The FCC released a Public Notice reminding involved broadcasters of the the approaching testing period start date of September 14, 2018 for the initial transition phase of the post-incentive auction transition. The Media Bureau is also reminding repacked stations of upcoming deadlines, application filing obligations, and notice requirements, and provide additional guidance concerning transition matters, including permissible station operations during the phase testing periods, when a station is expected to cease pre-auction operations, and the need to coordinate with other linked stations. Media Bureau extends deadline for Auction 83 long form filing window.
The Media Bureau announces that the deadline for filing Form 349 applications for winning bidders from Auction 83 will be extended from August 8, 2018, until August 10, 2018, 11:59 p.m. EDT. The Auction 83 long-form application window is currently open and scheduled to close August 8, 2018. This comes after technical issues occurred with the Consolidated Database System on August 2 and 3, 2018, which prevented some applicants from filing the Form 349 applications.
FCC proposes rules for expanded Incentive-Auction reimbursements
The FCC proposed rules to implement a recent Congressional directive to reimburse certain Low Power TV (LPTV), TV translator, and FM stations for costs incurred as a result of the Commission’s incentive auction.
